New Black Ops 2 Trailer With Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black & More

With Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 scheduled for release on November 13, it’s not surprising that Activision is working full-time to create as much hype about this game as possible. Modern Warfare 3 unsurprisingly broke a few sales records, and I have no doubt that Black Ops 2 will manage to do even better.

For a game as popular as Call of Duty is, selling millions of copies doesn’t just happen with making a great sequel, it’s also about good marketing, and not many games or publishers can get Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, Snatch) to direct their trailer, or more importantly afford Robert Downey Jr. (Ironman, Sherlock Holmes), Jack Black (Kung Fu Panda) and Zack Galifianakis (Hangover) to make an appearance in it.

Game developer Treyarch is doing plenty of stuff to build hype around the game as well, and from all we’ve seen so far it’s hard not to predict huge success of this highly anticipated sequel. Black Ops 2 launches in November 13 for PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U, so be sure to pick up your copy in time.

Kosh MW3 Strategy Guide Review

For those of you that simply want a professional advice and help in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 there’s finally a great solution available. The name is Kosh, and he wrote an incredibly detailed and comprehensive MW3 Strategy Guide that has an impressive amount of helpful content.

Kosh is an experienced writer of game strategy guides and his latest Modern Warfare 3 guide is no exception to the amazing quality and wealth of information his guides always provide. Whether you think you need help with Modern Warfare 3 or not, I strongly suggest you take a look at his offer or you’ll never know what you’re missing out on. This is an all-in-one strategy guide for this year’s biggest FPS game and you definitely want to know all about it.

First things first, let’s talk a bit about the guides aimed at beginner players that Kosh covers. You’ll get an overview of pretty much every aspect of the game you can think of, from weapons, interface, map tactics, team strategies and more. There’s also a great singleplayer campaign guide that will help you finish it in record time. You can finally upload some interesting content on Youtube! There are also several other beginner MW3 guides that talk about aiming, map awareness, classes, game modes, skills and more. Overall, highly useful for anyone new to Call of Duty.

Kosh MW3 Strategy Guide website

As for advanced guides, there’s certainly no lack of them. Some are on the same topics, but the author went into great lengths to provide an absolutely stunning amount of helpful tips and strategies that you 100% won’t find anywhere else. Trust me, I looked: this isn’t just basic stuff copied from random forums and blog, this is completely new insider information from someone who clearly understands and plays this game far better than I ever will.

Those guides consist of detailed overviews of all available weapons and their attachments, which is a must-read. You’ll get detailed stats and analysis of every weapon and attachments and recommendations on which ones to use. Additionally, the perks guide will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about them, and definitely a lot more than my basic MW3 perks guide posted on this site.

The part that I especially like and find useful is the one about maps. Every single multiplayer map that is available is covered with high-rez maps and screenshots, showing you some amazing sniping locations and small secret spots from which you can consistently kill people without getting exposed. Next time someone shoots and kills you before you even saw him or through a wall, you’ll know that person read Kosh’s Modern Warfare 3 Strategy Guide.

Another great part of Kosh MW3 Strategy Guide is that it comes with complete money-back guarantee, so if you don’t find it helpful you can just request a refund. Yes, that means this guide doesn’t come free, but from what it contains it’s a bargain price at the moment. It also gets updated with new content on a regular basis and it’s all free. Additionally it also contains video guides that I found to be very beneficial in understanding some stuff.

Overall Kosh definitely surprised me with the amount of content he managed to compile. If you’re constantly getting dominated in multiplayer this is the fastest and best way to get better at MW3 and I highly recommend you take advantage of it.

MW3 Perks Guide

In this Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Perks guide you will find not only a complete list of what all the perks do (both standard and pro), but you will also discover what the best perks are and what perks you should use with each weapon type. Perks affect the available equipment, effectiveness of that equipment, effectiveness of the enemy’s equipment, and the physical properties of the player’s character.

By learning the best strategies to use each perk for, you can select better perks. When you pick better perks than your opponents (and some are indeed better than others), you will have a strong advantage over the enemy, allowing you to get more kills and suffer less deaths.

There are three tiers of perks; you can select 1 perk from each tier. The descriptions below will tell you a bit about each one and help you pick the best ones according to your playstyle.

Notably missing from the MW3 list are Last Stand, One Man Army, and Commando from previous versions of the game.

  • Tier 1 Perks
  • Tier 2 Perks
  • Tier 3 Perks

Tier 1 Perks

  Perk Name Effect Pro Effect
Sleight of Hand Fast reloading Fast weapons change
Recon Explosive damage shows target on mini-map  Bullet damage shows target on mini-map
Blind Eye Undetectable to air support and sentries  Fast lock-on for rockets. Increased bullet damage to vehicles
Extreme Conditioning Increased sprint time Climbing speed increased
Scavenger Get ammo from dead enemies Get more ammo

There are a lot of good perks here and I can see myself using all of these perks in different game situations. Tier 1 perks tend to all be pretty good, so you have to choose carefully.

First off there is Sleight of Hand. This is good if you are using a gun which runs out of ammo really quickly (SCAR-H from MW2, anyone?). The Pro effect, which lets you swap weapons faster, is good if you are using a Overkill and swapping between a Shotgun and long-ranged gun. It also works for Snipers who want to swap quickly between their Rifle and pistol.

Personally, my favorite of the Tier 1 MW3 perks is Recon, which makes players show up on radar more often. I think that anything which makes players show up on radar more often is practically an unbeatable perk.

Blind Eye is for advanced players; you need to stay alive if you are going to be using any number of Aircraft or Sentries. Taking down enemy planes and vehicles also is a bit of work. Definitely not for new players.

Extreme Conditioning is an okay perk, but really only useful for big maps. I don’t really like it for most maps. If you do use it, it needs to be combined with Steady Aim, so that you can recover quicker from sprinting. Otherwise, you will find yourself on the losing end of a sprint very often.

Finally, there is Scavenger. This is another perk which is reserved for really good players – newbies will not stay alive long enough or win enough battles to actually run out of ammo. If you are running out of ammo, you are wasting bullets a lot (and giving away your position in the process).

Tier 2 Perks

  Perk Name Effect Pro Effect
Quickdraw Faster aiming Faster recovery from using grenade/equipment
Blast Shield Increased explosive resistance Resistance to flashbangs and stuns
Hardline Killstreaks require 1 fewer kill Two assists count as kill towards killstreaks. Deathstreaks require 1 fewer death.
Assassin Immunity to UAV, portable radar, thermal, and heartbeat Immunity to CUAV and EMP, no red crosshair or name over you
Overkill Carry two primary weapons Second primary can have attachments

Like Tier 1, Tier 2 has some of the best perks on this Modern Warfare 3 perks list, and it is hard to choose between all these good perks.

Quickdraw is a good choice for Snipers, as aiming faster will net you more kills. I consider Blast Shield to be fairly worthless and I cannot see a reason for using it over some of the other MW3 perks on this list.

Hardline is an excellent perk. Killstreak rewards are very good, and this makes rolling together 3 low-hanging killstreaks very easy. This is simply one of the best perks in the game. Getting two kills means you get a UAV, which can then roll into a few more kills, and you can quickly go up the ladder. My favorite for any mid or long-ranged gun.

Assassin is the best Tier 2 Modern Warfare 3 perk for classes using submachine guns or shotguns. You need to get close to use these weapons effectively, so being able to stay off the radar helps a lot. I recommend combining these with a suppressor (no sound) to stay off the radar entirely. Add in Steady Aim and Sleight of Hand (small maps) or Extreme Conditioning (big maps) and you have a winner.

Overkill is an interesting combination, but I find it hard to justify using this over Hardline or Assassin. Should you be on a map with very small rooms and larger areas, it can be helpful. This way you can pull out your shotgun for close-quarters fighting and then switch to an Assault Rifle when you get out in the open area.

Overkill is also good for Snipers who want a better secondary weapon to defend themselves with for close-quarters combat. Combine with Sleight of Hand for best effect so you can switch between the two easily.

Tier 3 Perks

  Perk Name Effect Pro Effect
Marksman Identify targets at more distant range Hold your breath for longer when sniping
Stalker Increased movement speed while aiming down the sites Add delay to enemy claymores before exploding
SitRep Detect enemy explosives and tac inserts Opposing team’s footsteps make more noise
Steady Aim Increased accuracy while firing from hip Weapon ready more quickly after sprint
Dead Silence Quieter movement, recon does not work as well against you Do not take any fall damage

Compared to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Perks, I’ve always found Tier 3 to be particularly underwhelming. I think that there is a lot less competition between perks here and it is easier to pick the best ones.

Marksman is obviously a great perk for Snipers. However, the best Snipers do not need to aim for very long – so the pro effect is fairly useless. You should be able to aim and shoot your target very quickly if you want to be a good sniper.

For everyone else, I would consider Dead Silence and SitRep to be fairly useless. Footstep sounds are hard to detect, as footsteps can be a player in front of you, behind you, above you, or below you. It is not like in real life where you can easily hear the direction of the sound (perhaps this works on surround sound – I don’t have one so I can’t tell for sure).

I do however consider Steady Aim to be an amazing perk for anyone using a submachine gun. This way you can strafe side to side very quickly while shooting from the hip. It significantly increases your accuracy in this regard. If there are too many players using ranged classes and camping out, I like to use a Submachine Gun with a suppressor, Assassin, and Steady Aim. It is a great class for taking out long-ranged players. No need to aim – just shoot from the hip and take people out while you strafe. It is hard to keep up with a Sniper Rifle on a console when you do this.

For everyone else, Stalker is your best bet. You can strafe faster this way when aiming, which can make it harder for your opponent to take you out if you meet in head to head combat, but are too far away to actually shoot from the hip.

Conclusion

By using the information and strategies on this list, you now know the best Modern Warfare 3 perks and the top ways you can combine them to have a winning class. By picking these perks, you can win more fights, level up faster, and have a lot more fun in CoD MW3!

MW3 Multiplayer Guide

MW3 Multiplayer Guide

If you are anything like me, the only reason you pick up new Call of Duty titles is so you can play multiplayer with friends and strangers like. If that’s the case, then you are in luck – in this guide to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Guide, I will be giving you 6 fast strategies that you can use to improve your kill death ratio!

In this quick guide to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer mode, I will be giving you 6 easy strategies that you can use to start boosting your kill:death ratio. This will help you level up faster so you can unlock more weapons and access prestige mode sooner, which is never a bad thing.

1. Select the Right Weapon for the Map

One of the biggest mistakes people make is using only a single weapon no matter what map they play on. In concept, this is a good theory. The more you use a gun, the more familiar you get with how it works and the better you will be able to use it.

However, I think it is best off if you stick to a few guns. At the very least, you need to master two weapons: a close-range (submachine gun or shotgun) and long-range (anything else) weapon. This way, on bigger maps you can select your long-range weapon, and on small maps with a lot of buildings you can use your close-combat weapon.

If you are fighting through small rooms and buildings with an Assault Rifle and everyone else has a submachine gun, you might find yourself in a bit of trouble!

2. Never Sprint Near Enemies

Bad players are constantly sprinting all over the map in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer. These players are easy targets for anyone who is not sprinting. When you sprint, there is a small delay before you can use your weapon again. If you try to go from sprinting directly into aiming, it is around a full second in time before you can actually shoot. This is enough time for the enemy to take you out!

You only sprint when you are trying to avoid being seen and moving across a dangerous area. You never sprint on offense when you are looking for your enemy. You need to be ready to pull the trigger at a moment’s notice should you run into someone.

3. Always Keep an Eye on Radar

Radar is everything in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer. You should always be looking at it. If you have a UAV, you should watch for the direction the dots on the map are moving. Generally, if you come up on someone in the same direction they are moving, you will be behind them, which makes them an easy kill. Players like to travel together too, so if you see someone run by on radar, there is likely another player that will follow them within 5 seconds.

This goes both ways. If you just fired a shot or the enemy has a UAV up, you need to be really careful about pushing out. It is best to take up a defensive position at this time, as the enemy is likely to come to you.

Finally, if you have the Assassin perk, when the enemy has a UAV up it is your time to shine. This is actually to your advantage. Your enemy will be chasing after people who are on radar, and they will not be prepared when you come across them. They will likely be sprinting or not ready to aim, so keep this in mind. An assassin should always be deep in enemy territory when they have a UAV active.

4. Base Killstreaks On Your Skill Level

This is a simple one, but a lot of players never figure this out. If you are not very good at CoD MW3 multiplayer, it makes no sense to pick the highest killstreak rewards. Instead, you should pick the lower ones which you will actually get to access regularly.

When you access these rewards, they might earn you and your team a few extra kills. This will help you level up faster so you can get better guns and perks, which will make your overall game life easier. As you get better and start racking up bigger killstreaks in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer, you can change to bigger killstreak rewards.

5. Match Up Your Perks to Your Gun

Another thing a lot of players struggle with in MW3 multiplayer is picking the right perks and attachments for their weapon. Some perks are clearly designed for certain weapons and do not mix at all with others, yet some players find themselves unable to make this distinction.

For example, let’s take a look at Tier 2 perks. Let’s say you are figuring out on whether you want to use quickdraw (faster aiming) or assassin (immunity to UAV and other such things). Quickdraw is clearly for long-ranged classes while Assassin is clearly for short-ranged classes.

If you are engaging in face to face combat, you are usually better off shooting from the hip – you have no time to aim regardless. Close-combat classes will always have more success sneaking up on people, so the Assassin trait is very good. You are also very vulnerable if you are close to enemies when they have a UAV up.

Now compare that to Quickdraw. If you are using an Assault Rifle or Sniper Rifle, often you will not be close enough to enemy territory to even worry about many of the sensors. However, if you are using a Sniper Rifle, you need to be able to aim very quickly to take down someone sprinting across an open area before they disappear. Good players can really get good use out of the Quickdraw feature because of this.

Think about your playstyle and match your perks and gun accordingly, and you will have a really good Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer combo.

6. Vote for the Same Map

I think this is one of the best strategies for any Call of Duty game. You need to vote for the same map constantly. If you are always in new spaces, it is hard to master the basics (such as the different guns, perks, and killstreaks). Familiar surroundings use less brain resources, which allow you to focus on things like where the enemy is.

Once you learn a map really well, you will find that you are a much better player. This is simply because your brain has less new information to take in and can better focus on locating and shooting enemy players. Once you have a map mastered, move on to the next one, and keep playing that one repeatedly to. Do this until you master all the maps in Call of Duty.

Conclusion

By applying these 6 strategies in multiplayer, you will find yourself winning a lot more games of CoD MW3. There are always exceptions to the rules, but these are timeless strategies that apply to any Call of Duty title.

MW3 Weapon Proficiencies Guide

The addition of Weapon Proficiencies is the latest in a long line of additions that we are going to be seeing in Modern Warfare 3. And with all of these added extras to the game, it is easy to get mixed up a little on what is what.

The Weapon Proficiencies are much like anything else experienced in the game (or any another Modern Warfare title) in that you will gradually unlock them as you progress. As you become more experienced with a certain weapon, you will gradually unlock all of the 10 proficiencies, one by one.

The easiest way to grasp the idea of Weapon Proficiencies in MW3 is by thinking of it as nothing more than a perk for your gun. While we are all familiar with using perks on our characters, implementing them on our guns is something that is completely new. Let’s say that you are particularly fond of the SCAR-L. If you use it enough, you will soon unlock the first of the Weapon Proficiencies; this being Kick. Here, you have only unlocked Kick for the SCAR-L, for every other gun you still have to get the kills to unlock it.

Below is a list of all 10 weapon proficiencies, along with short descriptions of each one.

  1. Kick
  2. Impact
  3. Attachments
  4. Focus
  5. Breath
  6. Stability
  7. Range
  8. Melee
  9. Speed
  10. Damage

Kick

The Modern Warfare 3 Kick Proficiency reduces recoil making successive shots from an automatic weapon more on target.  Can be used with any gun. This is best used on high-recoil guns such as the AK-47.

Impact

The Modern Warfare 3 Impact Proficiency increases bullet penetration and damage through walls. Can be used with all guns.

Attachments

The Modern Warfare 3 Attachments Proficiency allows a player to equip two attachments on their weapon at once. It can be used with all guns.

Focus

The Modern Warfare 3 Focus Proficiency reduces the amount of flinching when a player receives damage. It can be used with all weapons.

Breath

The Modern Warfare 3 Breath Proficiency allows a player to hold their breath while aiming down sights. It can only be used with the sniper rifle.

Stability

The Modern Warfare 3 Stability Proficiency reduces the amount your weapon sways. It can be used with all guns except sniper rifles and light machine guns.

Range

The Modern Warfare 3 Range Proficiency increases the range of your weapon. It can be used on all gun types. Best used on short range weapons liks Shotguns and SMGs.

Melee

The Melee Proficiency allows you to do a Knife Melee Attack quicker than normal. The melee attack is always a one hit kill. Can be equipped when using SMGs.

Speed

The Modern Warfare 3 Speed Proficiency increases the players speed. Can only be used with light machine guns and sniper rifles.

Damage

The Modern Warfare 3 Damage Proficiency increases the damage done with shotgun shells. Hence, it can only be used with a shotgun.

Choosing Proficiencies

Choosing proficiencies depends greatly on which weapons you prefer using, and what type of playstyle you have. You’ll simply have to experiment and figure out on your own. The good thing is the whichever proficiency you choose, you basically can’t go wrong.

You can also watch a video below to view some basics of the proficiency system.

MW3 Pointstreaks Guide

Killstreaks are bonuses that are earned by killing multiple enemies in a row without dying or gaining points by completing objectives. The name has been changed in Modern Warfare 3 to pointstreak because now completing objectives such as capturing a flag count toward getting your poinstreak reward instead of just getting kills like previous Call of Duty games. There are also deathstreaks which are earned by dying a certain number of times without a kill.

There are three different killstreak packages or “pointstreaks” for Modern Warfare 3 called Assault, Support, and Specialist. The Specialist Strike Package doesn’t have any killstreaks, but it allows you to choose 3 additional perks. The Support Strike Package allows you to die without having your streak reset.

  1. Assault Pointstreaks
  2. Support Pointstreaks
  3. Specialist Pointstreaks
  4. Death Pointstreaks

These perks operate in addition to the standard 3 assigned to the custom load out chosen at the beginning of a match.

Assault Pointstreaks

Similar to the killstreak reward system in MW2 and Black Ops having things like the predator drone and helicopters. The pointstreak count resets upon death.

Note: the numbers next to the pointstreak name means how many kills are required to unlock it.

UAV – 3

The Modern Warfare 3 UAV Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain calls in an unmanned aerial recon vehicle that gives the player a mini-map for 30 seconds that details the location of any opponents. It shows their locations even when they are not firing a weapon unlike the regular mini-map display.

Care Package – 4

The Modern Warfare 3 Care Package Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain calls in an air-dropped crate that contains a random benefit for the player. It might be anything from ammo to the most powerful killstreak.

IMS – 5

Intelligent Munitions System Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain is a ground based mine that fires an explosive projectile vertically.

Predator Missile – 5

Predator Missile Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain calls in a AGM-114 Hellfire missile that is deployed from an aerial vehicle and is remote controlled by the player until it explodes upon impacting a target or running out of fuel. Players can accelerate the missile by using the fire button. It can be used to take out aerial vehicles.

Sentry Gun – 5

Sentry Gun Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain is an unmanned turret mounted machine gun that automatically targets and fires upon enemies using thermal detection technology.

Precision Airstrike Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain calls in three F-15 fighter jets to make a bombing run on a location of the players choice.

Attack Helicopter – 7

Attack Helicopter Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain calls in a helicopter that automatically targets enemies from the air. It has a large firing range and moves quickly making it harder to target than some of the other choppers in the game.

Strafe Run – 9

Strafe Run Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain will call in 5 attack helicopters that sweep a player designated area twice then leave.

Little bird Guard – 9

Little Bird Guard Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain calls in an AH-6 helicopter that follows the player and fires on any enemies encountered.

Reaper – 9

Reaper Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain calls in an armed Reaper UAV which allows a player to spot targets from overhead and launch up to 5 rockets at them with the help of a laser guidance system.

Assault Drone – 10

Assault Drone Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain calls in the airdrop of a player controlled drone armed with a 50 round MK46 light machine gun and a single shot rocket launcher. It lasts for one minute or until it has taken too much enemy fire.

AC130 – 12

AC130 Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain allows the player to take the control of the guns on and AC-130 while flying over a map.

Pave Low Chopper – 12

Pave Low Chopper Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain calls in the MH-53, a heavily armored assault helicopter. It is more difficult to take down and has more fire power than other choppers in the game.

Juggernaut – 15

Juggernaut Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain gives the player enhanced body armor along with an M60E4 light machine gun and an MP412 handgun.

Osprey Gunner – 17

Osprey Gunner Killstreak /Assault Strike Chain calls in a V-22 Osprey Helicopter and gives the player control of the guns while delivering four care packages plus one booby trapped care package.

Support Pointstreaks

Offers rewards such as UAVs and Sam Turrets. Unlike previous versions of the game, this package will not make the players killstreak / pointstreak count reset upon death. Instead, it will accumulate over the course of a match.

Note: the numbers next to the pointstreak name means how many kills are required to unlock it.

UAV – 4

UAV Killstreak /Support Strike Chain calls in an unmanned aerial recon vehicle that gives the player a mini-map for 30 seconds that details the location of any opponents. It shows their locations even when they are not firing a weapon unlike the regular mini-map display. It can be shot down or jammed with a Counter UAV.

Counter UAV – 5

Counter UAV Killstreak /Support Strike Chain disrupts maps and mini-maps of your enemy.  Also blocks any radar or maps associated with killstreaks. It can be shot down. It is a 5 point strike package reward.

Remote Turret – 12

Remote Turret Killstreak /Support Strike Chain calls in a turret mounted machine gun that the player can remotely control.

Stealth Bomber – 14

Stealth Bomber Killstreak /Support Strike Chain calls in a B-2 bomber over the map and carpet bombs a designated area. It is invisible to radar and cannot be shot down.

EMP – 18

EMP Killstreak /Support Strike Chain is an Electro-Magnetic Pulse that disables enemy air support and electronics.

Juggernaut Recon – 18

Juggernaut Recon Killstreak /Support Strike Chain calls in an air drop of enhanced Juggernaut armor equipped with a riot shield and a USP .45 handgun. It grants enhanced damage resistance and acts as a mobile motion sensor.

Escort Airdrop – 18

Escort Air Drop Killstreak /Support Strike Chain calls in a V-22 Osprey helicopter that drops four care packages and one booby trapped care package. The chopper still also automatically fires on enemy players while it is on screen.

Specialist Pointstreaks

Specialist Pointstreaks will reward players with perks instead of strike packages. After every 2nd kill, the player will receive new perk options. The streak count will reset each time a player dies.

  • 2 Kills: Choose 1 extra perk
  • 4 Kills: Choose 2 extra perks
  • 6 Kills: Choose 3 extra perks
  • 8 Kills: Get all perks

Deathstreak Rewards:

  • Juiced – Available after 4 deaths. Allows you to move faster for a few seconds after respawning.

  • Martyrdom – Available after 4 deaths. Drop a live grenade once killed.
  • Revenge – Available after 5 deaths. Shows the position of the last enemy that killed you on the radar.
  • Hollow points – Available after 5 deaths. Works like Stopping Power by giving extra bullet damage.
  • Dead Man’s Hand – Available after 6 deaths. Like Final Stand, but instead you will have two C4′s in your hands.

MW3 Weapon Attachments Guide

The following is a list of all available weapon attachments in Modern Warfare 3. Most commonly used ones are scopes and sights, but there are also different ones, such as a grenade launcher or ammo capacity increase.

All weapon mods have some sort of a benefit, but some also have drawbacks (for example, limiting vision or increasing recoil). Be sure to familiarize yourself with all pros and cons before you attach something to your weapon.

ACOG Sight

The Modern Warfare 3 ACOG Sight Attachment adds a 2.5x magnifier to your weapon which is more than double the zoom in of the iron sights or any of the dot sights. It is very useful for extending the long range capabilities of any MW3 weapon, but on many of them it increases aim down sight time, idle sway, and recoil.

Extended Mags

The Modern Warfare 3 Extended Mags Attachment increases the size of the magazine used with a weapon resulting in more bullets fired before reloading is necessary. The amount varies by gun but generally there is about a 50% increase in size. It is best used on weapons that have long reload times but not on guns that you’d frequently reload anyway.

Grenade Launcher

The Modern Warfare 3 Grenade Launcher Attachment is an add on available for assault rifles that adds an under-barrel grenade launcher to the weapon. Grenades have an arming distance of 5-6 meters and will not detonate unless they have traveled this distance. Shooting at obstacles too close to the player will result in the grenade just bouncing off the surface. However nearby enemy players can be killed if the grenade directly impacts them without exploding.

HAMR Scope

The Modern Warfare 3 HAMR Scope Attachment is a dual purpose hybrid sight. One scope is similar to the red dot sight or the holographic sight in that it uses an LED to create a red dot within the reticle for precision aiming while looking down the sight of a gun. The other sight is similar to an ACOG with a 3x magnifier. Players can toggle between the two when this attachment is mounted to a weapon.

Heartbeat Sensor

The Modern Warfare 3 Heartbeat Sensor Attachment uses an electromagnetic field to discern enemy locations and displays them on a screen that is side mounted on a weapon. It acts much like a UAV but only displays enemies that are in close proximity to the player.

Holographic Sight

The Modern Warfare 3 Holographic Sight Attachment uses an LED to create a dot within the reticle for precision aiming while looking down the sight of a gun. It is in many respects just like the Red Dot Sight but it is mounted slightly higher on a weapon and therefore reduces the amount of muzzle flash visible during firing. However, it also slightly limits peripheral vision due to the way the scope blocks out portions of the screen while aiming down the sight.

Hybrid Sight

he Modern Warfare 3 Hybrid Sight Attachment allows a player to have two sights or scopes mounted to the same weapon at the same time. One is a holographic sight and the other a magnified sight which can be used in conjunction by pressing the left arrow on the D pad.

Rapid Fire

The Modern Warfare 3 Rapid Fire Attachment increases the speed at which a weapon fires by one third. It therefore raises a weapon’s damage per second capacity but consumes ammunition much more quickly and also makes the recoil more difficult to control.

Red Dot Sight

The Modern Warfare 3 Red Dot Sight Attachment uses an LED to create a red dot within the reticle for precision aiming while looking down the sight of a gun. It is in many respects just like the Holographic Sight but it is mounted slightly lower on a weapon and therefore increases the amount of muzzle flash visible during firing. However, it also slightly improves peripheral vision due to the way the scope does not block out portions of the screen while aiming down the sight like it’s holographic counterpart.

Shotgun

The Modern Warfare 3 Shotgun Attachment is an add on available for assault rifles that adds an under-barrel shotgun to the weapon. It is useful as an addition to guns that do not have good short range capabilities and has a faster switch-up time than going to a secondary weapon or reloading.

Silencer

The Modern Warfare 3 Silencer Attachment makes it much more difficult to hear shots fired and it also prevents your gunfire from showing up on the enemy’s mini-map. It also has the benefit of reducing muzzle flare when firing a gun. However, it often has a down side that affects a weapon’s range or accuracy making this attachment more appropriate for mid and short range use.

Thermal Sight

The Modern Warfare 3 Thermal Sight Attachment allows a player to see enemies based on body heat signature. When looking through the scope you will see other players as sold white against a gray background. In this manner the sight can be used to see through smoke. It is more difficult to use on snowy maps and bright muzzle flare is also a consideration with this scope.

MW3 Story Details

With the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 just next week, here are some early story details, which we can expect to see in the newest installment!

The game will immediately follow the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, where the Russian Federation continues its invasion of the United States of America, and has also expanded its offensive to Europe, including England, France and Germany. Campaign stages are also planned for Somalia, Sierra Leone, Moscow and Dubai.

Gameplay videos from E3 2011 in Los Angeles showed Delta Force soldiers helping Navy Seal Teams force a Russian submarine to surface in the East River and boarding it to destroy the other boats in the harbor. Later on, Delta Force soldiers are on a mission to destroy a radar jamming installation on top of the New York Stock Exchange.

According to sources via a Kotaku article, the game will reboot the Call of Duty franchise, bringing an impressive number of settings, deep multiplayer gaming and a story that ties up nearly all loose ends from previous titles, including the final moments of key figures in the series’ history.

The article goes on to state that, “the game opens moments after the cliffhanger ending of Modern Warfare 2 with the U.S. struggling to stave off a surprise Russian attack. The single-player campaign will ping-pong players around the world as they take on the multiple throwaway roles as a Russian Federal Protective Services agent, SAS Operative, tank gunner, and AC-130 gunner as well as key characters from previous installments and new recurring characters. The game will feature about 15 missions, kicking off with the invasion of Manhattan by a Russian force and wrapping up with a final encounter in Dubai.”

The plot, as described, seems to be keeping with developer Infinity Ward’s habit of delivering complex, short sequences punctuated by lots of gunfire and scene changes.

Modern Warfare 3 will also see the return of Task Force 141 Captain John “Soap” MacTavish (voiced by Kevin McKidd), former SAS Captain John Price (voiced by Billy Murray) and Russian informant Nikolai who are on the run after killing the rogue U.S. Army Lieutenant General Shepherd. Russian Ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov (voiced by Roman Varshavsky) will also reprise as the game’s primary antagonist.

Several new playable characters have been added, including Derek “Frost” Westbrook (voiced by Corey Stoll) and “Sandman” (voiced by Christopher Meloni), a pair of Delta Force operatives in New York City; Marcus Burns (voiced by Christian Coulson), a Sergeant in the Special Air Service fighting in London; and Yuri, a Russian federal security agent. Wallcroft (voiced by Craig Fairbrass) from Call of Duty 4 will also return in the game!
